Methodology

How We Build Certified Equipment

The 8-step process we follow for every product, from your first inquiry to long-term after-sales support. No shortcuts. No "trust me" hand-waving.

ISO 9001:2015IEC 60079 SeriesATEX / IECEx / UL100% Batch Testing
  1. Application Assessment

Free 24h assessment of your hazardous area, Zone classification, and certification requirements.

Before recommending any product, we confirm: (1) Zone classification (1, 2, 21, 22), (2) gas group (IIA, IIB, IIC) or dust group, (3) temperature class (T1–T6), (4) environmental factors (corrosion, impact, IP rating needed), (5) regulatory jurisdiction (ATEX EU, IECEx international, UL North America). This is offered as a free service to all prospective buyers.

  2. Material Selection

Raw materials sourced from certified suppliers with full traceability (mill certificates on request).

For stainless steel enclosures, we use 316L grade from mills with ASTM A240 certification. For aluminum, we specify 6061 or 5052 alloy. Brass cable glands use CW614N or CW617N. Every batch is traceable via heat number to the mill certificate, available on request for major projects.

  3. Design to IEC 60079 Series

    Engineering designs follow IEC 60079-0 (general), -1 (Ex d), -7 (Ex e), -11 (Ex i), -31 (Ex t).

Our engineering team works to the relevant parts of the IEC 60079 series. For Ex d (flameproof), we apply the gap and length requirements of IEC 60079-1, validated by hydrostatic pressure testing. For Ex e (increased safety), creepage distances and clearances follow IEC 60079-7. We do not skip design steps, even for "simple" gland products.

  4. Prototype Testing

Every new design undergoes hydrostatic, impact, IP, thermal, and dielectric testing before tooling release.

For Ex d enclosures, prototype hydrostatic testing is performed at 1.5x reference pressure for at least 10 seconds, with no permanent deformation or leakage. Impact testing follows IEC 60079-0 (7J for Group II). IP testing per IEC 60529. Thermal endurance testing at upper and lower temperature limits. Dielectric testing per relevant clauses.

  5. Third-Party Certification

Notified Bodies (ATEX), Certification Bodies (IECEx), and NRTLs (UL) test independently before listing.

We work with multiple Notified Bodies for ATEX (TUV Rheinland, TUV SUD, SGS, CSA), IECEx Certification Bodies, and NRTLs for UL (UL LLC, CSA, Intertek). For most product lines, we hold 3-5 active certifications in parallel. Certification cycles typically take 6-12 months for new products. We never sell a product as "certified" until the certificate is in hand.

  6. Factory Production Control (FPC)

Ongoing audits by certification bodies ensure production units match the certified prototype.

ISO 9001:2015 + ATEX requires annual FPC audits by the Notified Body. Our FPC system includes: incoming material inspection, in-process checks (dimensional, visual, torque), final testing (hydrostatic for Ex d, dielectric, IP), and traceability records. Each shipped unit receives a unique serial number traceable to the production batch and the FPC audit date.

  7. Pre-Shipment Inspection

100% of finished units are visually inspected, dimensionally checked, and function-tested before packing.

AQL-based sampling for lot acceptance, plus 100% visual and functional inspection on every unit. Each shipment includes: (1) commercial invoice, (2) packing list, (3) test certificates per unit, (4) material certificates (where applicable), (5) ATEX/IECEx/UL certificate copies, (6) installation manual in the language(s) requested by the buyer.

  8. After-Sales Support

2-year warranty, 48h spare parts dispatch, on-site support for major accounts.

Standard warranty is 2 years (industry standard is 1 year). For warranty claims, the buyer provides photos and a description; we typically dispatch a replacement or refund within 7-15 days. For major accounts and EPC projects, we provide on-site commissioning and operator training. Spare parts are stocked in our Xiamen warehouse and shipped within 48 hours for urgent cases.
